Pre-Confirmation Classesis a program for students in grades three through six to become more acquainted with the Biblical narrative than offered in Sunday school and to become familiar with portions of Luther's Small Catechism. Pre-Confirmation Classes meet on Monday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Grades Three & Four use the instructional book, One Hundred Bible Stories to learn the Biblical narrative of both the New and Old Testament. Students learn the books of the Bible so they can easily locate passages and accounts. Grades Five & Six use the instructional guide, Living in Christ, uses Bible stories to teach the Six Chief Parts of Christian doctrine. Memorization is an important aspect of instruction in Pre-Confirmation. Over and over again the Bible speaks of knowing Scripture, having it in one's heart. Memorization of texts of Scripture and portions of the Six Chief Parts of The Small Catechism provides the framework and basic building blocks of faith. See the article Why Memorize? for further explanation of our rationale for memorization. |
