WEEKLY BIBLE STUDIES
Adult Bible Class meets on Sundays at 10:15 am. Our current class is Eating God's Sacrifice: the Lord's Supper in the Old Testament. This video based study focuses on how the sacrifices of God's Old Testament people pointed to the life and death of Jesus Christ -- and to His ongoing gift to His New Testament people, Holy Communion.
Lutheranism 101 lays out what we believe, teach and confess according to God's Word! It's a great introduction if you're new to Messiah or Christianity; it's also a great refresher to brush up on the basics of the faith. The next session starts Sunday, June 18 at 11:30 am and will run for 6-8 weeks; click here for a sample of the Lutheranism 101 book.

Pre-Confirmation & Junior Confirmation
Both these classes will be in recess from May through August, resuming in September.
Pre-Confirmation is a program for students in grades four through six to become more deeply acquainted with the Biblical narrative, beyond what is offered in Sunday school, and to become familiar with portions of Luther's Small Catechism.
Students use the instructional book, One Hundred Bible Stories to learn the Biblical narrative of both the New and Old Testament. Students learn the books of the Bible so they can easily locate passages and accounts. This is supplemented by portions of Luther’s Small Catechism.
Junior Confirmation's goal is that those who have gone through instruction in Luther's Small Catechism would grow to have a firm faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. Faith is the goal of this instruction, a faith based on the truths revealed in Holy Scripture. We want our children to know not what human wisdom teaches but that which God the Holy Spirit teaches.
Junior Confirmation Class consists of students in grades seven and eight. Catechumens go through a two year period of instruction in Luther's Small Catechism utilizing the One In Christ – Applying Luther’s Catechism instructional materials. After satisfactorily completing the instruction students may become communing members of the congregation. (For a sample of One in Christ -- Applying Luther's Catechism, click here.)
Confirmation for second year students takes place on the first Sunday in May.
Memorization is an important part of instruction in Pre-Confirmation and Jr. Confirmation. Over and over again the Bible speaks of knowing Scripture, having it in one's heart. Memorization of texts of Scripture and the six chief parts of the Small Catechism provides the framework and basic building blocks of faith. See the article The Best Cardio Exercise for more about memorization.
