Dear brothers and sisters at Messiah,
Our sister in Christ Norda Tillotson was called home to be with our Lord on Sunday, May 4th, at the age of 88, following a bout with cancer. Norda became a member in 1968; her wedding to Phil Tillotson took place at Messiah that same year. Throughout her years here, Norda was faithful in worship & Bible study and active in service (including regularly tidying up the pew racks after worship services); she and her mother Mabel Wollney were also long-standing members of Messiah's bowling league.
We mourn Norda's passing along with her children Steve and Christy, and all of her family and friends. But we also rejoice that Norda is free from her earthly sufferings, and is now in the presence of her Savior Jesus Christ, awaiting the resurrection of the body on the last day.
Norda's funeral service will be held at Messiah on Monday, May 12th at 11:00 am, with visitation beforehand at 10:00 am and a luncheon following the service. Norda's complete obituary should be available soon at MKD Stegenga Funeral Chapel's website.
Please keep all those who knew and loved Norda in your prayers in the coming days; feel free to use the prayer below as a model.
Lord God, maker of heaven and earth and giver of life, we thank You for all the mercies You granted to our sister Norda during her earthly life, especially for calling her to faith in Jesus Christ. Comfort all the survivors who mourn Norda's death with the hope of the glorious resurrection and a joyful reunion in heaven. Keep us mindful that we are mortal so that we will ever be prepared to die in the faith and finally receive the glory promised to all who trust in Your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
