Eunice Florip, Messiah Preschool Teacher, 1933-2025

Dear brothers and sisters at Messiah,

Eunice (Merz) Florip, who served as one of Messiah's preschool teachers, went to be with her Lord on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the age of 91.  A faithful member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, then St. James Lutheran Church during her years in Grand Rapids, Eunice's service at Messiah was a capstone to a lifetime of faithfully teaching children about Jesus -- first as a Lutheran educator in Bridgman, Michigan, then as a short-term missionary to Jamaica, as well as in in everyday situations.

We mourn Eunice's passing along with her family and friends.  But we also rejoice that Eunice is free from her earthly sufferings, and is now in the presence of her Savior Jesus Christ, awaiting the resurrection of the body on the last day.

Eunice's funeral service will be held at her home congregation St. James Lutheran Church (2040 Oakwood Ave NE) on Friday, September 25th at 11:00 am, with visitation beforehand at 10:00 am and a time of fellowship following the service. Click here for Eunice's complete obituary.

Lord God, maker of heaven and earth and giver of life, we thank You for all the mercies You granted to our sister Eunice during her earthly life, especially for calling her to faith in Jesus Christ. Comfort all the survivors who mourn Eunice's death with the hope of the glorious resurrection and a joyful reunion in heaven. Keep us mindful that we are mortal so that we will ever be prepared to die in the faith and finally receive the glory promised to all who trust in Your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord.  Amen.
