Messiah continues our observance of Holy Week with Good Friday services on April 18th - the Chief Service at 11:00 am and the Service of Darkness (Tenebrae) at 7:00 pm. The 7:00 pm service will also be livestreamed at www.youtube.com/messiahgr, our website and our Facebook page.

We continue our Lenten sermon series, which is based on the ancient hymn “O Love, How Deep” (Lutheran Service Book 544), with the theme “His Dying Breath”:

For us by wickedness betrayed,

For us, in crown of thorns arrayed,

He bore the shameful cross and death;

For us He gave His dying breath.

Jesus is betrayed into the hands of sinners. He is mocked while wearing a purple robe and a crown of thorns. He must carry His own cross to Golgotha, the Place of a Skull. All of this happens until the last, when “for us He gave His dying breath”. It is completed. Salvation has been won for us. It is finished; He has loved us to the end. (Isaiah 52:13-53:12; Hebrews 4:14-16; 5:7-9; John 18:1-19:42)
